My works are a joyful and spiritual dance with the clay.
Some of earliest memories are of my grandmother’s garden filled with irises and drives with my father through the countryside looking at the landscapes that rolled by my car window. Relying on my drawing and printmaking skills, I etch images of these memories that I love from nature into the surface of my pots.
Using hand carved stamps I enjoy imbedding texture into some of the pieces. Some have brushes full of slip layered on the surface, while others have a quiet elegant presence expressed through their shapes.
I also continue to be fascinated by the many aspects of firing, which enable me to explore and use many different glazes and finishes. I want my work to encourage use and evoke a connection through its use to the artist.
