Biography

Linda Gray Schmale was born in Texas and lived in Louisiana, California and Colorado before starting school in England. She continued to move to Maine, South Carolina, Puerto Rico and Northern California. Linda has been making art as long as she can remember. Grant High school in Sacramento is where she had her first pottery class. She holds a BA in Art from University of California, Santa Cruz (drawing, painting and printmaking), studied for her K-12 Art Education license at Metro State College Denver and has her MA in Fine Arts in Ceramics and Art Education from Regis University.
She has been teaching art in the public schools since 1996 and is currently the Ceramics,Photography and Jewelry teacher at Gateway HS in Aurora. Since 1998, she has also taught for Foothills Parks and Recreation district as an adult pottery and raku instructor along with teen and children’s clay and art classes. She participates in Colorado Art Education Association Council having served in various capacities from Vice President to Spring Conference coordinator. Linda is a member of ArtSource Colorado -serving on the advisory board and coordinating professional development twice a year.
Until recently, Linda’s work was represented by “Windows into the West “ gallery at Streets of South Glen, and previously “For the Beauty of the Earth “ gallery on Main St in Littleton.
She has been accepted into various juried groups shows at the Arvada Center, Lakewood Art Center, Curtis Art Center, Foothills Art gallery, DAVA gallery, and the Colorado Art Education Association Exhibits throughout the state. Her work is in personal collections in Colorado, California, Texas, Ohio, Massachusetts, Washington, Alaska, United Kingdom, and Ukraine.
Linda is active in her church where she sings in the choir. She has been married to her best friend, Michael since 1979 and has three sons, two daughters, two daughters-in-law, a delightful grandson, a “quasi-adopted” daughter, two “quasi-adopted”granddaughters, two dogs and three cats.
